Planning on getting your Christmas food shop from Sainsbury's? Slots opened up for delivery pass customers from Monday 16 October with all shoppers getting access from Monday 23 October. 

Sainsbury's shoppers with a Nectar card can now get discounts on around 300 items in store and online with the supermarket's new 'Nectar Prices' scheme. Pricing's been cut by between 15% and 60% on items in the scheme, so if you're planning to buy these items at Sainsbury's anyway, then scanning your Nectar card (or getting one if you don't already have one) is a no-brainer. Major supermarkets including Asda and Tesco are currently imposing restrictions on certain fruit and vegetable purchases, including tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, due to supply shortages. Sainsbury's has promised to give shoppers who missed out on its in-store points promotion £5 in Nectar points. It comes after MoneySavingExpert.com pushed the supermarket to ensure shoppers who met the minimum spend for Saturday's promotion didn't go empty-handed after a "technical error" meant vouchers weren't issued. Nectar cardholders can get between 50 and 5,000 extra points – worth 25p to £25 – when shopping at Sainsbury's tomorrow (Saturday 4 February). But you'll need to spend at least £20 and do so at a larger store, as the offer is not available at any of Sainsbury's 800 Local outlets. Here's what you need to know.

Over half a million low income families who use an 'NHS Healthy Start' prepaid card will receive a weekly £2 top-up coupon to spend on fruit and veg if they use their card at a Sainsbury's checkout from 12 October until 11 April 2023. 

If you have a Sainsbury's credit card and use it to earn Nectar points, you have just one week until the supermarket cuts the number of points you earn when shopping at the retailer. From 1 November, you'll get just one Nectar point for every £2 spent at Sainsbury's.

Aldi has become the latest supermarket to scrap 'best before' dates on fruit and veg in a bid to cut down on food waste. It joins Asda, M&S, Sainsbury's and Waitrose, which have all recently done similar. Food can still be eaten after its best before date, yet many people throw items away in confusion. 

Boots and Co-op are the latest retailers to increase the price of their meal deals. Boots has upped costs from £3.39 to £3.59, and from £3.99 to £4.19 in its London shops, while Co-op's meal deal has jumped from £3.50 to £3.75.
