Sainsbury's shopper? You can get up to £25 in bonus Nectar points – but there are some catches
Nectar cardholders can get between 50 and 5,000 extra points – worth 25p to £25 – when shopping at Sainsbury's tomorrow (Saturday 4 February). But you'll need to spend at least £20 and do so at a larger store, as the offer is not available at any of Sainsbury's 800 Local outlets. Here's what you need to know.
Update: 7 February 2023: Sainsbury's has promised to give shoppers who missed out on its in-store points promotion £5 in Nectar points. It comes after MoneySavingExpert.com pushed the supermarket to ensure shoppers who met the minimum spend for Saturday's promotion didn't go empty handed after a "technical error" meant vouchers weren't issued. We had threatened to report the supermarket if it didn't help shoppers.

The offer is part of the supermarket's nine-day 'Big Points Bonanza', which also includes prize draws and other giveaways.

How to get the bonus points
Here's what you need to do to get the extra points:
First, head to a Sainsbury's supermarket. The promo is only available in store at larger stores, not Sainsbury's Locals or online.
You can find your nearest big store using Sainsbury's store locator – just select the 'Superstore' filter after entering your postcode.
Spend at least £20 in one transaction. Some non-food items are excluded from the qualifying spend, for example, spirits, liqueurs (and all other alcohol in Scotland and Wales), tobacco and lottery products, among others.
Scan your Nectar card or app before checking out.
You'll get a printed coupon for 50 to 5,000 bonus points. You'll then need to redeem this with your next in-store shop of 1p or more.
Sainsbury's has confirmed to us that there's no limit on the number of coupons you can get – as long as you meet the conditions above, you'll get a coupon each time.
Of course, don't use the promotion as an excuse to overspend – treat it as an extra perk on your normal shopping.
If you don't already have a Nectar card, you can join the scheme online for free to take part in the February promotion. For more on getting the most out of Nectar, see our Nectar points boosting guide.
