The proportion of trains which are cancelled or significantly delayed has increased by almost two-thirds year-on-year, Network Rail's latest figures reveal. But in most cases you can claim at least a partial refund if your train arrives more than 30 minutes late.

Thorpe Park is to release a further 4,000 12p tickets to those who missed out last month after a technical fault meant the theme park's high-profile ticket promotion started earlier than advertised. However, you'll need to have actually entered your details at around 10am on the day the deal went live to be eligible – others who missed out won't be so lucky.

Most passengers claiming compensation for train delays should automatically be given a cheque instead of rail vouchers from tomorrow – but the law to enforce this has been postponed by six months.

The rail regulator has called for train companies to do more to ensure those hit by delays receive refunds, after its investigation found passengers fail to claim for 80% of delays, while train and station staff give out wrong compensation info more than two thirds of the time.
