Cab app Uber has been granted a new 18-month licence to operate in London after a judge ruled the firm is "fit and proper" to work in the capital.

Easyjet Holidays has launched a new 'Protection Promise', which lets customers who decide not to travel for any reason up to four weeks before departure get a full cash refund, aside from their deposit which will be returned to them as a credit voucher.

Loveholidays has followed fellow package travel firm On the Beach in resigning from the trade body ABTA, in a move to avoid paying full refunds to some customers hit by coronavirus cancellations.

Package holiday giant Tui has promised to pay any outstanding refund requests for holidays cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic by 30 September 2020.

Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays customers with outstanding refund requests should receive their cash by the end of October, the company's chief executive has said - and strict timescales have also been set for future refund claims.

Travellers returning to England and Northern Ireland from Portugal (though not including the Azores and Madeira), Hungary, French Polynesia and Réunion will need to self-isolate for 14 days if they return after 4am on Saturday. In addition, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is now advising against all but essential travel to all four destinations.

Travellers returning to England or Northern Ireland from seven Greek islands will have to self-isolate for 14 days from 4am on Wednesday 9 September. The announcement comes as Transport Secretary Grant Shapps unveiled a new 'islands policy', which will mean islands can be added to or removed from England's travel corridor list separately to countries as a whole.

Travellers returning to Wales from Portugal and six Greek islands will need to self-isolate for 14 days if they return after 4am on Friday. And the Scottish Government has followed suit by adding Portugal to its quarantine list, meaning all travellers returning to Scotland from there after 4am on Saturday will also need to self-isolate.

Travellers returning from Greece will have to self-isolate for 14 days if they arrive back in Scotland after 4am on Thursday, the Scottish Government has announced.

Holidaymakers who have booked stays in the UK with several other households are finding they are unable to get refunds for their bookings – even though travelling could go against Government coronavirus guidance.
