Plus high earners will lose the tax-free personal allowance and higher rate pension tax relief. Arguments for include. The govt needs the money. Those who can afford it should pay. Poll Started 14 April 2009: How many hours do you work? An EU Parliament vote means the UK’s current opt-out from maximum working week laws is likely to be scrapped in 2011. This means it’ll be legally impossible to exceed 48hrs of work per week, regardless of the job you do. I thought it’d be interesting to see how many MoneySavers this change would impact, by asking... In a typical week, how many hours do you work for paid employment? If you have more than one job, combine the hours for each together. If there’s no such thing as a typical week, average it out.

Poll Started 06 April 2009: Over the last year according to Nationwide house prices have dropped 15.7% while Halifax says 17.5%. Yet in the last month Nationwide has reported a rise of 0.9%, compared to Halifax's 1.9% drop. Sentiment is a crucial part of house prices e.g. when people think they’ll drop, many hold off from buying, meaning less demand and prices do drop.
