The following is the text of Martin's Money Tips e-mail on 22 July 2004

Big new credit card headlines this week,  the age of the year long 0% really is upon us.  Lots of other clever stuff too, special thanks to yet another MoneySaver who's knocked up some fab new software, see the Ebay Tip.  Plus thankfully the site is now super fast again!

NEW BEST PURCHASES CARD. TARTS ALERT! A YEAR'S 0%  A new Sainsbury's credit card offering new customers a year's  0% on purchases, and as it also offers Nectar points it pips Barclaycard as the best lending for spending.  For full pros, cons & card picking strategies read a completely new Best Card For Purchases article.  If you've already read it & want to apply or peek at the card click here*.   Do note though, the 0% is for purchases not balance transfers, if you have existing debts on cards the instead read my just updated Best Balance Transfers article.

FREE TEXT FOR ORANGE USERS. Thirty free texts, if you use a special code Chat Tip

E-BAY CHEAP GOODS TRICK:  Many Ebay listings have spelling errors, meaning they don't turn up in searches, so there are less bids and they're cheaper. A MoneySaver has set up a clever web-tool that searches for near spell-alikes to find the bargains. Specific Chat Tip or Ebay Chat Forum section.

NEW TOP CURRENT ACCOUNT: 5.5% in-credit, 0% overdraft & £30 for signing up.  Alliance & Leicester's new day to day bank account offers a massive 5.5% if you're in-credit and a year's 0% overdraft.  Frankly, if you're still with an abysmal high street account with a 15% overdraft and 0.1% in credit interest, you don't deserve the name MoneySaver.  Sort it out.  Switching is easy.  I've done a full update of the best current account article.  Best Bank Accounts.

FINDING WHAT YOU WANT:  Behind stage, plans are afoot for a mini MoneySavingExpert redesign to make stuff easier to find.  Meanwhile this  new guide should help (it's also atop the home page if you're ever stuck)

That's it for this week.  I must say my favourite Chat Post was from someone who multi-MoneySaved on the back of last week's tip.  They used the First Direct Free £25, to pay for the £25 Sainsbury Wine free USA flight.  I wondered if anyone else had similar ‘holistic' MoneySavings – let me know here.

And regulars will know what I'm abou t to say….. so let's do it all together….one…two…three ‘please do e-mail everyone you know about the site and recommend they join up to the e-mail, the more MoneySavers the more power to our collective elbow, let's make the big companies tremble.'

I hope you save some money

Martin
