Hiya. Good news, the site's moving to bigger, better serviced UK servers over the next couple of weeks, which (fingers crossed) should mean more stability and speed. Though please be aware the cross-over may cause the odd wobble.

And celebrations! Gobsmackingly the site was named Personal Finance New Media of the Year, especially when you consider BBC Online was runner-up! Woo hoo!

New Top Xmas spending card. 9 months 0% interest and Xmas prezzies at Jan sales prices
There's an easy loophole in the RBS card terms which means buy on the card now and spot it cheaper in the January sales and you can reclaim the difference. Better still for new customers it's also 0% on purchases for nine months, only one month short of the longest available. In combination this is my top pick card for Christmas spending whether you're borrowing or not. £69 DVD RECORDER Asda bargain!

Quick loophole for 12 free bottles of wine and/or get the top ethical bank account
Open a Smile current account before 10 Dec and it'll give you a dozen bottles of wine. To qualify you need only credit the account with £1,500 before 10 Jan 2006. The money doesn't have to stay there so it can then be withdrawn immediately (and anyway it pays 3.3% interest in the meantime). So you would just grab the wine without using the account or if you're looking for the top 'ethical' bank account, this is it so just switch. Time to remortgage: low interest, level playing field ... save £1-3,000 a year
Mortgage rates are low at the moment, the cheapest at around 4.2%. If you're paying 5% plus check out switching - you could save large. Plus as there was no interest rate move this month, it means there's a level playing field for comparing. Free Remortgaging Guide: Printed Version/Instant PDF Download More Info

More gas and electricity prices rise.... still time to switch!
On Jan 1 NPower hikes its energy prices by 14% and Scottish and Southern Energy 10%. My "time to switch" note three weeks ago said prices were as stable as they'll ever be, as all the big players had made their price moves. This is still the case. There's never a 'no price rise' moment, just a 'most stable' one. If you haven't switched do it now. If you have to one of the above, then the comparison services have now incorporated the new prices, so check your deal.
