Hitwise Number 1 yay! And it's holiday time. MoneySavingExpert.com's now the UK's biggest financial information site - measured between January and March this year - according to Hitwise, finally overtaking Yahoo money (in the past it was the biggest independent site). Huge thanks to all who've recommended it to others. Plus, this week I'm on a break; having completed the articles, I'm leaving compiling the forum tips in the hands of my top researchers Archna, Dan and Jenny. And as I'm sunning myself, I thought I'd remind you of these articles: Cheap Flight & Hotel Finding, Package Holiday Undercutting, Cheapest Travel Insurance and the Cheapest Way To Spend Overseas. Size isn't everything. Please help spread the word! Even though nearly 3 million people use the site each month, the ethical financial stance means there's no big TV advertising budget like the fully commercial money sites seem to have. Are you an AirMiles collector? Earn £40 as NatWest ditches the scheme From June 1, NatWest stops doling out AirMiles if you spend on its credit card; yet Lloyds TSB's replacing it. While my view is stick with the Best Cashback Card, this will boost your points-earning ability. Apply for Lloyds' card and you'll automatically get a Mastercard and an Amex. The Amex pays out 1 AirMile per £10 spent; that's twice as good as the old NatWest card - but the Mastercard isn't worth bothering with. Better still, sign up via the AirMiles website, not Lloyds TSB, and you’ll get 500 free miles, worth roughly £40, when you make your first purchase. Phoning customer services? A database is growing on how to speedily nip through it It's very aggravating; you call customer services and spend ages pressing the options, plus if it's an 0870 number you're dialling the bill could be rapidly increasing too (see SayNoTo0870 article for more ways to beat that). The old trick is repeatedly press the # key, yet a US site which runs a database of speedy options to dodge the menus is doing it here too. Forum Link: Speed Dial |

MONEY MORAL DILEMMA: Should Victor use his local pharmacist? Victor's a pensioner, who often needs over the counter medication. His local pharmacist is much more expensive than the supermarket he uses that's a few miles away. Yet there's been an article in the local paper saying it may close down due to lack of customers. Victor tends to go to the pharmacist and get advice when he's not well, and doesn't like the idea of it closing. However, it's pretty likely other locals with a bit more cash will start spending there to keep it open. Should Victor keep shopping at the supermarket or shift his business?
