Sainsbury's cancels spring Nectar 'double-up' promo
Loyalty point collectors have been dealt a blow after supermarket giant Sainsbury's announced it won't be holding its 'double-up' event as expected.
The popular promotion, which many Nectar users save up their points for, allows you to exchange points for vouchers worth twice their usual value, to spend across a range of departments such as toys, home and clothing.
In recent years the double-up has taken place each spring and autumn – there was one in March in 2015 and 2016. But Sainsbury's now says the event won't be running this spring, though there will be one later this year.

New Nectar event planned April 2017
The spring double-up's cancellation will come as a surprise to some, as recent tweets from Sainsbury's had suggested the promotion was imminent.
However, a Sainsbury's spokesperson told MoneySavingExpert.com: "We constantly review our Nectar event cycle to provide customers with relevant offers that deliver great value. Double-up won't be running this Easter, but fans will be pleased to know that the event will be back later in the year.
"We'll also be running a new event in April 2017 that we think our customers will be really excited about. We'll be sharing details of that event soon."
Today's announcement follows Tesco's decision to cancel its own similar double-up promotion last year. The supermarket held its last-ever double-up, which was called Boost at Tesco, in May and June last year.
