EE and Virgin Mobile customers are reporting widespread problems trying to make calls today.

The extent and nature of the issue is not currently clear, but we've seen dozens of reports from affected users on social media.

An EE spokesperson said: “Some of our customers are reporting problems when trying to make calls to some numbers this morning. All data and messaging services are working as normal. We’re working to fix this as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

EE says that some landline customers are also affected.

Customers with Virgin Mobile, Plusnet's mobile service, BT Mobile and The Phone Co-Op - all of which use EE's network - are also reporting problems.

All these operators have acknowledged that there are issues. EE tweeted at around 5.30pm this evening to say it expects everyone's service to be restored by 6pm.

If you've been affected let us know at news@moneysavingexpert.com.
