MoneySavers pledge £11.5m in charitable wills donations
MoneySavers have pledged more than £11.5 million in less than one month to charitable causes as part of our 'free' wills offer.
Farewill is offering up to 2,000 MoneySavingExpert.com users in England and Wales free wills until this Sunday, in the hope that readers will leave a donation to one of its charity partners in their will – though this isn't mandatory.
So far, more than £11.5 million has been pledged to 227 charities since the offer began at the end of August, and this figure is likely to increase as readers have until the end of October to complete their wills.
The most popular causes to donate to are cancer charities (29%), physical health charities (13%) and animal charities (13%).
See our guide for more information.
How the Farewill offer works
You can register with Farewill using the code msefree until Sunday 23 September.
Farewill is an online will specialist, which asks you to answer simple questions online to create your will. It's then checked by one of its will specialists.
The wills are normally £90 for a single will or £135 for couple's wills, but with this deal you won't be charged.
Instead Farewill hopes you'll include a donation in your will to one of its 45 charity partners, which include Greenpeace, Macmillan Cancer Support and Water Aid, but you can of course choose a different charity and are under no obligation to make a pledge at all.
Farewill charges a £10 annual fee if you'd like to be able to update your will – your first year is free. You'll get a reminder before the free period's up, so you can opt out if you wish.
Alternatively, Free Wills Month offers free wills (with the hope of charity donations) to over 55s every October and March.
