Fashion chain Select falls into administration
Women's fashion chain Select has gone into administration - here's what you need to know on gift cards and return rights.
The firm, which has 169 stores across the UK, has appointed business advisory firm Quantuma as administrators.
Worryingly, Select has 1,800 employees, although the administrators say no redundancies have been made yet.
Select will carry on trading while administrators "assess all options" for the future of the business.
It says outstanding orders and returns WILL be honoured
The administrators say that all outstanding orders will be honoured.
Its returns policy is also remaining unchanged, but if you do have a Select purchase you've been meaning to return, it's worth doing so sooner rather than later.
And if you make a purchase from Select now, you may want to use a debit card, or a credit card if the purchase costs over £100.
This will give you some extra protection, as you may be able to make a claim through Section 75 for credit cards if something goes wrong, or try to claim through chargeback on a debit card.
See our Section 75 and chargeback guides for more information.
It says gift cards WILL be accepted - but be careful
The administrators say all gift cards and vouchers will be honoured.
But remember that with any gift card, you've no protection if things go wrong – so it's always wise to spend them sooner rather than later.
