If you've got a Marcus easy-access savings account or cash ISA, you can boost your interest rate to 3.3% in seconds by activating its new 0.34% bonus. It's a no-brainer for those who don't want to switch, though you can get even better returns elsewhere.

Both the Marcus savings account and cash ISA currently pay standard interest of 2.95% AER. For those that add the new bonus, the total rate increases to 3.3% for 12 months (see below for how this compares with other accounts).

If you're looking to earn more on your savings, see our Top savings accounts guide and Top cash ISAs guide for the latest deals.

How to add the bonus rate to your Marcus account

You can add the bonus to your existing account even if you already have a previous bonus active – this new one will replace it and stay in place for 12 months from the date you add it.

To add the 0.34% bonus to your account using a laptop or computer:

  1. Log in to your account on Marcus.co.uk.

  2. Select 'view' next to where it says 'online savings account' or 'cash ISA'.

  3. Scroll down and select 'view bonus options'.

  4. Select 'renew your bonus'.

To add the bonus interest rate using the Marcus app:

  1. Log in to the app and click 'online savings account' or 'cash ISA'.

  2. Tap on the three dots on the top right hand corner of the screen.

  3. Select 'view bonus options'.

  4. Select 'renew your bonus'.

If you're new to Marcus, the bonus will be automatically added when you open an account.

Chip, Shawbrook Bank and a few others currently beat Marcus on rate

Marcus currently sits just outside our best buys for top-paying easy-access accounts – these are accounts where you can put money in and withdraw it whenever you want (though some limit how often you can withdraw each year).

App-only Chip offers the top easy-access rate of 3.71%. It offers unlimited withdrawals and allows you to open the account with just £1, though it can be fiddly to operate - see our Chip analysis for full details. Shawbrook Bank is highest for an account you can open and manage online, though it offers a lower 3.65% and you need to deposit at least £1,000 to open it.

Marcus' easy-access cash ISA rate of 3.3% can also be beaten, but only just. The top rate here is 3.5% and is offered by Cynergy Bank. It's also worth noting the Marcus ISA does not allow transfers-in from existing ISAs. In addition, it's nota flexible ISA, meaning that if you withdraw money, it will still count towards your £20,000 ISA allowance if you later decide to redeposit it.

See our Top savings accounts and Top cash ISAs guides for more info and options.
