NatWest is the latest major lender to reduce the amount of time its mortgage customers have to lock in a new rate ahead of their current deal ending, joining five other high street banks. The changes mean you've less time to insure yourself against rates rising before your existing mortgage comes to an end.

Online marketplace eBay will stop accepting American Express ('Amex') cards as a direct payment method from today (Saturday 17 August). You'll still be able to use your Amex on eBay by going through PayPal – but be wary of doing this with large purchases, as you may lose valuable Section 75 protection.

EDF Energy has launched a new tariff tapping into the anger about the high level of standing charges set by regulator Ofgem under its Price Cap. The new EDF Ensure* tracker tariff is effectively a discounted version of the Price Cap that will be £50 cheaper over the year – and it does this by lowering standing charges, not unit rates.
