From Saturday you should no longer be charged a fee for opting to pay by credit or debit card – but companies will still be able to add booking or admin fees as long as they also apply to other forms of payment.

Passengers due to fly with Easyjet this summer may end up flying on aircraft operated by Latvian-based carrier SmartLynx Airlines, after the firms signed a lease deal. But if you're unhappy with the switch and don't have a flexible ticket you WON'T be able to claim a refund more than 24 hours after booking.

Budget airline Easyjet has quietly scrapped its free refund trick, which meant passengers whose flights fell in price after booking could get the difference back in vouchers, MoneySavingExpert.com can reveal. Yet if you booked a flight before Monday or are a member of one of its loyalty clubs you may still be able to use the trick – here's how to check if you're affected.

If your flight's delayed and the airline refuses you compensation, you're now more likely to be able to appeal to an ombudsman-style scheme with binding powers, after a raft of airlines including Easyjet and Flybe became the latest to sign up to an official adjudication process. But it's not all good news – some passengers will now have to pay a £25 fee if their appeal is unsuccessful.
