Millions of households in Britain will get £400 this winter to help with rising energy bills as part of the Government's Energy Bills Support Scheme. Exactly how you'll be paid this money depends on your supplier and how you pay for your energy bills. Below we round up everything you need to know.

The energy price guarantee, which was introduced on 1 October to protect households from a hideous 80% increase in energy bills, will now only last until April 2023, rather than for the next two years as originally planned. Shell Energy will pay an extra £150 to over 150,000 of its customers who get the Government's Warm Home Discount this winter – meaning those eligible will get £300 in total from both payments.
