Millions of self assessment taxpayers are being encouraged to pay their tax in advance by the Government. However, you could be missing out on hundreds of pounds in interest via this option.

The deadline for Tax Credits renewal is this Friday. Most claimants must reply to any letter sent or they may miss out on cash, or even face a fine.

A set of spam emails from fraudsters purporting to be from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) offering a tax rebate are currently doing the rounds.

Most of the nine million taxpayers who file a self-assessment return will have to make a payment by 31 July.
