Emily has over six years of experience in journalism, starting her career as a local news reporter in 2018 before joining MSE in May 2021. She has tackled a range of critical topics at MSE, including consumer rights, energy, debt, and financial regulation.

Some of Emily's biggest stories include Ryanair's barring of customers who received Covid refunds, the shutdown of tax rebate firm Tax Credits Ltd for forgery, and discrepancies in the Warm Home Discount scheme. These stories have been covered by some of the UK's biggest newspaper outlets, including the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express, The Sun and The Guardian.

Emily has earned several award wins and nominations, including winning the Rising Star of the Year Award at the Headline Money Awards in 2023 and being shortlisted for the Wincott Foundation's Personal Finance Journalist of the Year Award alongside MSE founder Martin Lewis. In 2022, she also won an MHP's 30Under30 Young Journalist Award in the Personal Finance category.

Outside of journalism, Emily is passionate about writing plays and short fiction, and enjoys hiking, running, and reading.

Urgent action is needed from the financial watchdog to prevent vulnerable people from being overcharged for insurance products. Charity the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute (MMHPI), which was set-up by MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis, has issued the calls after finding people with mental health problems are being charged 27 times more for insurance than non-sufferers.

You will still be able to use non-barcoded 'everyday stamps' after 31 January for another six months, MoneySavingExpert.com can confirm. The deadline to use these stamps is 31 July. This is despite a series of misleading adverts from Royal Mail saying otherwise.

Struggling students have been “dealt a blow” as loans to help with living costs will fall far short of rising inflation, based on Government plans. From September, English students will see a real term cut to maintenance loans of 8p in the £1 - a shortfall students or parents will have to make up for themselves.

London bus and Tube fares to jump by the biggest amount in a decade
Londoners who use the Tube and bus will have to pay more from 5 March, London mayor Sadiq Khan has announced today. Single Tube fares will rise by 30p in Zone 1 and by between 10p and 30p across the rest of the Underground network. Single bus fares will rise by 10p.

You now have until 31 July 2023 to use 1st and 2nd class stamps without barcodes
You've now got less than six months to use any non-barcoded everyday stamps – those with the Queen's profile on – before they become worthless. Alternatively, you can swap them for barcoded versions for free through the Royal Mail scheme. We take you through what you need to know below.
