Save up to £315,000 in top-rate perfect safety! New Article. The Chancellor's announced new rules; so now if your savings provider goes bust you'll get all of the first £35,000 back. Currently nine institutions have clean accounts paying a whacking 6.2% or more, instant access. So if you're lucky enough to have £315,000, you could put £35,000 in each to keep it perfectly safe. Full details in the New Article: Are my Savings Safe? Related Article: Top Savings Accounts WARNING. Having two accounts isn't always safe! The safety net applies per financial institution, not per account. This is where it gets complex; what defines an institution depends on each bank’s licence. E.g. sister banks Halifax and Bank of Scotland count as one institution; meaning just one lot of protection. Yet sister banks RBS and Natwest are separate. Check your protection: The Are my savings safe? article includes full details of each provider's relationships. If the site's saved you money, pls spread the word to friends and family and suggest they get this free e-mail via moneysavingexpert.com/tips |

Give yourself a 25% pay rise in a day. Completely overhaul your finances.

Now, to help, I’ve drafted a step-by-step guide; which includes how to examine your finances, then cut the cost of debts, household & personal bills, and ensure you’re not missing out on extra cash. IVA ads promise "Debts written off. Interest frozen". Now for the truth... Free IVA Guide
Nasty IVA ads on TV promise an easy ‘government loophole’ as a solution for desperate people with debt problems. Actually IVAs are a cut down form of bankruptcy, only suitable for specific people. Yet IVA companies can make £5,000 plus each time they flog one, so they reel out reams of propaganda. To fight back, I’ve launched this new PDF guide; if you’re considering an IVA, it’ll take you through whether an IVA is right for you, how it works, and what the alternatives are. This response to my MOT Cost Cutting article says it all: “My usual garage said to make it pass its MOT, repairs would cost almost £1,000. If you’ve had a loan, credit or store card in the last ten years, you may be able to reclaim £1,000s on the insurance policy that came with it. There’s been massive systematic mis-selling of these policies and it's time we fought back. Seven weeks ago I launched a reclaiming guide and already 50,000 template letters have been downloaded; yet as it's a complex subject I’ve now added a easy-to-understand video guide. Haggling: how low do you go? This week's poll. Vote and Haggling discussion.
Are you a MoneySaver in the closet? Unlikely. Last Week’s Vote. 40% of those that voted said they were proud to be MoneySavers, boasting to all and sundry. Yet it seems pure money talk is still out of vogue; 30% were keen to let their peers know about bargains but not finances, compared to just 2% who'd rather talk about finances.
