If you go online to the Eden Project* at least one day before you visit the Cornwall attraction and know the date you'll be visiting, you can get up to 10% off entry prices.

When booking in advance, you can get an adult ticket for £22.50 (£25 at the gate) and a child ticket for £12.60 (£14 at the gate). What's more, if you choose to donate the cost of your ticket to the Eden Trust when booking, you'll get free entry for a year. This means you’ll pay £22.50 for a year’s entry - you’ll have to have your photo taken at the attraction as the pass can only be used by one person.

Half-term activities

Eden is open from 9.30am until 6pm during the half-term holidays until Sun 30 Oct, with last entry at 4.30pm. In addition to the regular Eden attractions, during this time there's also Halloweden activities*.

Activities for kids include magic shows, bubble sculpting, pumpkin carving and circus ringmaster training. Ice skating* is also available from Sat 15 Oct, there's an extra charge of £7 per adult (16+ years) and £6 per child for 40 minutes.

It's back again this year... Buy May's BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine (£4.50, out until Mon 30 May) and you’ll get a card for 2for1 adult entry to 385 UK gardens, valid until 14 Apr 2017. 

Once you've got the card, sign it, and turn up at any of the gardens listed. You can use it as many times as you like, but even if you visited just one garden costing more than £4.50 - which most gardens we found were - it's worth buying the magazine.

One of the biggest savings is a 2for1 at Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (Stratford-upon-Avon), which normally costs up to £26.25 for a full-price adult ticket on the day. Some of the other gardens in the offer include:

There's also a more expensive bumper version of the same magazine out at Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose (subject to availability) where you'll get the pass to get 2for1 or up to 50% off PLUS on the cover you'll find Briers 'Seed and Weed' gloves, which Gardeners' World says are worth £3.99, and six packets of seeds.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
