Orange, Freeserve and Wanadoo email addresses to shut down
Anyone with a "legacy" email account from mobile and broadband provider Orange (now part of EE) needs to move to an alternative email address by the end of May as the service is being shut down.
After 31 May 2017 you'll not be able to access your account, send or receive any emails from your Orange email address, or access contacts and emails in any way.
The addresses affected by the closure end in the following ways:
Orange.net
Orangehome.co.uk
Wanadoo.co.uk
Freeserve.co.uk
Fsbusiness.co.uk
Fslife.co.uk
Fsmail.net
Fsworld.co.uk
Fsnet.co.uk
While many of those affected may already have an alternative email address with another provider, those who don't will need to set one up. EE is recommending Google's Gmail as a good choice for those in this situation, due in part to its 15GB of free storage which will allow you to store many emails from your old account if you wish.
For full help on how to transfer to a new email provider, plus how to save and forward old emails you want to keep, you can check out EE's full FAQs.
What are Orange customers saying?
We've heard from a number of you with email addresses which are set to close. MoneySaver Bob emailed: "Many of us silver surfers obtained our email address through signing up to Orange, Freeserve or Wanadoo broadband and have kept them for many many years."
And Michael got in touch to say: "I use Orange email and I have had an email saying it's closing down completely. I imagine there are a lot of users like me who are unsure of the best alternative options."
How can I keep in touch with MSE?
If you're signed up to get our weekly email and you're forced to move to a new email address because of these changes, you can update your contact preferences here.
If you're signed up to our free Cheap Energy Club you can update your address by logging in, scrolling down your account homepage and selecting 'edit account'.
Unfortunately there's currently no way for our Credit Club members to change their email address, so you'll need to delete your account and re-register with a new address if you want to keep in touch. To do this, log in, click your name in the top right-hand side of the screen, select 'settings' and then select 'delete account.'
