Nectar points can now be used to buy movies and box sets in the Sky Store
Nectar cardholders can now rent or buy box sets and movies from the Sky Store with their points – even if they don't have a Sky TV subscription.
Customers with Nectar cards can swap points for Sky Store vouchers, with a £5.99 voucher being available for 1,000 points.
When we checked it was possible to buy older releases, such as Downton Abbey season one, for £4.99, and new releases, such as Captain Marvel, for £13.99.
When spent in store at Sainsbury's, 1,000 points is usually worth £5, so points spent in the Sky Store will be worth more. But as always, it's worth checking out the full range of partners you can exchange your points with, as some may offer better value.
See Nectar points boosting in our Loyalty Points guide for the best tips and tricks.
How many points do I need to swap?
Customers can swap points for a Sky Store voucher via the Nectar website or Nectar app.
You can then watch your purchases on TV or a device, such as a smartphone or iPad, or via a DVD or Blu-ray sent to you.
You can get the following vouchers:
£5.99 for 1,000 points.
£7.99 for 1,400 points.
£9.99 for 1,750 points.
£11.99 for 2,100 points.
£13.99 for 2,450 points.
£15.99 for 2,800 points.
Because of a quirk in the way the points work out, it can sometimes be worth buying two smaller vouchers rather than one bigger one. For example, you'd be better buying one £5.99 voucher and one £7.99 voucher (overall £13.98), which would cost you 2,400 points, rather than one £13.99 voucher, which would cost you 2,450 points.
To redeem a Sky Store voucher, you must have a Sky iD and have accepted the Sky Store T&Cs, which you can do on the Sky website. Once you get a voucher code, this will be valid until 31 July 2020, and once added to your account, you will have 12 months more from that date in which to use your credit balance before the balance is removed from your account.
It's worth noting the voucher can't be used for purchases made on a Sky+ HD box or a Sky Q box, but you can instead send Buy & Keep purchases to them.
