British Gas to take on Nabuh Energy's 36,000 customers – here's what you need to know
British Gas is set to take on all 36,000 customers supplied by Nabuh Energy, after a buyout was agreed. If you're with Nabuh Energy, here's what you need to know.
Following an agreement, British Gas will take over the supply of energy from Nabuh Energy from Saturday 27 April, after the small supplier, which launched in 2017, was acquired by British Gas.
If you're with Nabuh Energy, don't worry – your supply won't be interrupted, and British Gas says that your tariff will stay the same after the transfer.
Nabuh Energy's 36,000 customers will join British Gas's existing seven million energy customers, and Nabuh's 70 employees will also move across.
I'm a Nabuh Energy customer, do I need to do anything?
You don't need to do anything, and your supply won't be interrupted – the Nabuh Energy brand will continue as normal, so your tariff won't change and you will still manage your account as normal.
If you've a prepayment meter, your existing top-up card or key will continue to work as normal, you can still top up at the same places – including any Payzone or Paypoint outlet, and the post office – and any debt repayment plan you have in place with Nabuh will remain the same.
If you're with Nabuh Energy, you likely won't notice any real changes, as it's mostly happening behind the scenes. You should still be able to log on to your online account as you do now, and the contact details will stay the same.
Will I be charged more for my energy?
British Gas has confirmed it will honour all of Nabuh Energy's existing tariffs, so your rates and tariff terms will be the same.
I'm in credit, will I get this back?
If you're a Nabuh Energy customer and your account is in credit, you'll keep this. Your account will continue to operate as before, so your balance will remain as it is.
As always you're free to use it to cover future energy use or ask for it back, in line with British Gas's refund rules.
I don't want to move across to British Gas, can I switch?
You're free to switch away if you don't want to be with British Gas. The supplier has said you can leave at any time with no exit fees.
