Ikea extends £20 gift vouchers given out in annual Christmas tree promotion for a second time until August
Ikea shoppers now have longer to make use of £20 gift vouchers that were given out as part of its annual Christmas tree promotion, as the retailer has extended their validity until 1 August. It comes after concerns shoppers wouldn't have enough time to redeem vouchers with many Ikea stores only just starting to reopen following coronavirus restrictions easing in England, Scotland and Wales.
Under the offer, which we featured on MoneySavingExpert.com, if you bought a £29 real Christmas tree from Ikea in November or December, you were given a £20 voucher to spend in store at Ikea between Monday 18 January and Sunday 28 February.
Since the voucher can only be used in store (and not online), Ikea had already extended the voucher's validity to Sunday 18 April earlier this year when its stores were temporarily closed due to lockdowns.
But given non-essential retailers across England, Scotland and Wales have only just started reopening after the easing of restrictions (they remain closed in Northern Ireland), Ikea has extended the validity of the vouchers again – this time until 1 August 2021.
Ikea adds that it'll take into consideration any continued or new restrictions imposed later down the line, so that people have enough time to redeem their vouchers. Read our Ikea MoneySaving Tips and Hacks blog for further help on cutting costs at the Swedish furniture seller.
Vouchers can only be spent in certain branches
Ikea's England, Scotland and Wales stores are currently open for browsing, while its Belfast store remains closed except for click and collect services.
However, it's worth bearing in mind that vouchers can only be spent in participating stores. Stores not participating are: Greenwich, Manchester, Norwich and the planning studio store on Tottenham Court Road, London.
Vouchers can be spent on most items with a few exclusions, including anything bought from the restaurant, Swedish Food Bistro or kitchen planning services.
