Around two million people across the UK use fuels such as heating oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), coal or biomass to heat their homes. The majority should have received a £200 support payment in February from their electricity supplier, but if not, you can now apply for the payment.

British Gas has cut gas prices for over a million of its prepay meter users as of Saturday 1 April, bringing them in line with the rates paid by those on direct debit. Standard stamp prices are to rise by up to 16%, Royal Mail has confirmed. From Monday 3 April, the cost of first-class stamps will be hiked to £1.10 (up 15p from 95p), while second-class stamps will increase to 75p (up 7p from 68p).

The Government has changed its guidance on how energy suppliers should apply the Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) discount to Economy 7 tariffs from April. It comes after MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis raised the issue with the Energy Secretary, as many Economy 7 users saw bills rise unfairly in January.
