Tesco shopper? Check if you can earn up to £50 in bonus Clubcard points as it brings back limited offer

If you have a Tesco Clubcard, you may be able to earn up to £50 in bonus points over the next few weeks as the supermarket has launched a new round of its limited 'Clubcard Challenges' promotion.
Tesco previously ran the offer in May, making it available to three million Clubcard holders. Meanwhile, supermarket rival Sainsbury's is running a similar offer this month for some of its Nectar loyalty scheme members.
How to check if you're eligible
We asked Tesco if the scheme has been expanded to include more shoppers, but all it would tell us is that "at least the same people" who got the offer last time would get it this time.
To find out if you can take part, you can:
-
Check your emails. Look for an invitation from Tesco.
-
Check the Tesco Grocery and Clubcard app. If eligible, you should see a banner notification and further details on your individual challenges. If you don't currently have the app, you can download it for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

How Tesco's Clubcard Challenges work
Tesco has confirmed that the new challenges will work the same way as they did before:
-
The offer will run from Monday 15 July to Sunday 25 August. The previous round also lasted for six weeks.
-
You'll again be offered 20 spending challenges and will be able to complete up to 10 of these. You'll be shown these via email or in the Tesco app. You'll have to manually select which challenge(s) you want to be applied to your account. If you change your mind, you can deselect a challenge and choose another.
As before, challenges will be personalised based on your spending habits. Last time, examples Tesco gave us included spending £20 on Tesco's summer BBQ range over the six-week period, or spending £10 on plant-based ready meals.
-
You'll be able to earn up to £100's worth of bonus Clubcard points. The maximum you'll be able to earn from completing all 10 challenges is 5,000 Clubcard points, worth £50 to spend in Tesco – or £100 if you redeem them with one of Tesco's 'Reward Partners', which include Cineworld, Pizza Express and Thorpe Park (see our Clubcard points boosting guide for more on this).
Normally, you have to spend £1 at Tesco to earn one Clubcard point, and 100 Clubcard points is equal to £1 in Tesco vouchers, which you can double up by redeeming with a Reward Partner.

MoneySavers didn't rate the challenges last time around
Two weeks after the scheme first launched in May, we ran a poll on Twitter to gauge how many people had been able to take part and what they thought of it.
Just over half (51%) of the 354 respondents told us they weren't eligible. Of those who were eligible, nearly eight in 10 (almost 80%) said they either weren't using the offer or found it "not good", while 17% felt it was "hit and miss". Just 3% of those eligible said it was "so far, so good".
If you've been invited to take part in this latest round of challenges, let us know how you get on, in the MSE Forum.
Don't use this promotion as an excuse to overspend
Only buy what you were planning to anyway and see the challenges as an added boost if you do hit the targets. Keep the Money Mantras in mind: Do you need it? Can you afford it? Will you use it? And is it worth it?
You'll continue to earn Clubcard points at their usual level even if you don't reach the goals of the challenge.
