NatWest will shut at least 39 of its bank branches in 2026 and 2027, after confirming 32 new closures today (Friday 30 January). Below we list which branches are disappearing and what the alternatives are if you still want face-to-face banking.

Alternative ways to bank face-to-face with NatWest

  • Head to a nearby Post Office. You can withdraw cash and make deposits into your bank account via the Post Office.

  • Check if there's a 'banking hub' in your area. Banking hubs are shared spaces run by the Post Office – but separate to actual Post Offices – where customers of multiple banks can deposit and withdraw cash, get face-to-face support and manage their accounts. As of Thursday 29 January, there are 210 hubs up and running around the UK, with 40 additional hubs planned.

Even if there's not a NatWest representative at your local hub, you can use the banking hub counter to access banking services. You can use the Post Office's branch finder to check if there's a hub near you (if there is, it'll show up in the list with a "banking hub" label).

  • See if there's a 'mobile branch' near you. This can be used for banking services, including making deposits and withdrawing cash. You can find out where your nearest mobile branch is, or when it will next be in your area, on the NatWest website.

  • Try an RBS branch. Because NatWest and RBS are part of the same group, you can use RBS branches as well as NatWest branches for your everyday banking, such as cash deposits, withdrawals and paying in cheques – find your nearest.

For full details on your options, see our Bank branch alternatives guide.

If you need branch access and don't have alternative services nearby, consider switching

If you no longer want to stay with NatWest, you might want to consider switching to a bank that does have a local branch nearby – although bear in mind there's no guarantee that won't close as well. Banks currently paying you to switch to them include:

  • Club Lloyds – get a free £250 for switching, plus 6.25% interest for a year on up to £400 a month, fee-free spending overseas and your choice of a reward (such as 12 months' Disney+ with ads). To get the free cash, you can't have had switch cash from Lloyds, Bank of Scotland or Halifax since 1 January 2023.

  • Santander – get a free £200 for switching, 1% bills cashback, a possible £25 voucher and more. To get the free cash, you can't have had switch cash from Lloyds, Bank of Scotland or Halifax since 1 January 2023.

Santander confirmed it will shut 58 of its branches across the UK in 2026 and 2027 – after adding 44 branches to the list this week.

For more options, including a free £250 from HSBC if you're a high earner, see our Best bank accounts guide.
