Thousands of Nationwide customers whose debit cards expire at the end of this month have been sent replacement cards that don't work.

American bank JP Morgan Chase has this week announced the launch of a brand new current account in the UK. It offers customers 1% cashback on most spending for a year, 5% interest on savings made when you round-up purchases, and fee-free debit card use abroad. But most can only get it from November and you could earn up to £130 switching bank account NOW, so is Chase's account worth it? 

Coventry Building Society is to withdraw debit cards from more than 30,000 customers using its MoneyManager savings accounts in September – and some will also lose overdraft facilities.

Nationwide now lets you freeze your card if you temporarily lose it, with the Co-op Bank set to follow next year. A dozen major banks had already introduced the feature – check here if your bank offers it.

The financial regulator has said that "almost all" contactless transactions from the two biggest card schemes are now processed 'online' to combat a security flaw that meant crooks could use cards months after they'd been cancelled.

Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland have started allowing customers to track where they've been spending with a new Google Maps feature.  

A new debit card which lets you connect your existing debit and credit cards to it and can help with budgeting has now launched – but there are a couple of drawbacks to be aware of before you get one.

Companies will be banned from charging ANY fees for credit or debit card payments from early next year.
