Sainsbury’s has today (30 November) opened its first checkout-free store where shoppers can pick up their groceries and leave without needing to scan items or pay at an in-store till.

Asda is extending its one-hour express delivery service to a further 92 stores across the UK. The service was first introduced at the beginning of the summer at four outlets and allows customers to place an order and receive their groceries to their door in under 60 minutes.

M&S Bank has launched a new rewards scheme for its credit card holders called 'Club Rewards'. Once you're a member you can earn extra loyalty points, money-off M&S vouchers, free next day delivery and more. But you have to pay a pricey £10/mth fee, which means it's only worth it if you'll use the shopping vouchers or spend over £2,000/yr at the retailer - plus, you could earn more with other cashback cards. 

Tesco has re-introduced restrictions on grocery sales, allowing shoppers to buy only three packs of certain items and just a single pack of toilet roll. However the supermarket and its rivals insist there are currently no product shortages and are urging customers to shop normally.

Amazon's online grocery delivery service will now offer 'free' delivery on orders of £40+ to Prime members living in certain postcodes in London and the south east – but don't automatically assume it offers the best deal. 

Some Ocado customers who made orders before Christmas using their Mastercards have only just had their payments taken, leaving them with delayed charges of £100+ in some cases.

Lidl shoppers can now buy reusable bags for fruit and veg if they don't want to put them in single-use plastic bags.

Aldi will be launching a trial of paper and compostable carrier bags across its stores, after it stopped selling 5p plastic bags earlier this year. 

Waitrose has started a trial aimed at cutting down on packaging waste by allowing shoppers to bring their own containers – and the packaging-free produce is up to 15% cheaper.
