Mobile firm Three is adding to its list of countries you can use your phone in without paying roaming charges from 15 June. But you'll still face a limit on the amount of your UK data allowance you can use abroad and fees for exceeding that limit – despite the much-touted 'ban' on EU roaming charges coming in next month.

A Vodafone customer has told how he racked up an astonishing £10,500 bill after exceeding the data allowance on his Wi-Fi dongle, which he mistakenly thought had been capped. If you use broadband on the go, beware – some Vodafone dongle customers don't have any caps on their usage in the UK, even though all providers cap dongle usage abroad.

Every Vodafone customer should check their bill for errors after it was fined £4.6 million by telecoms regulator Ofcom for "serious and unacceptable" pay-as-you-go and complaints failings. But this is just the tip of the iceberg – a MoneySavingExpert.com investigation in June revealed 1,000s have been wrongly billed due to a multitude of other problems.

About 15,000 UK customers who pre-ordered the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 have been urged to return the phones immediately after a fire risk was identified with them. While the Royal Mail won't collect recalled faulty phones for safety reasons, some network providers will send couriers to pick up the devices and most will accept returns in store.
