Tesco Mobile customers can avoid roaming rates in Europe this summer
Millions of Tesco Mobile customers can avoid paying roaming charges for using data and for calls and texts while traveling in 31 European countries this summer.
The 'Home From Home' promotion will run from Monday 23 May until 11.59pm on Saturday 3 September and will allow Tesco Mobile's 4.6 million monthly-contract and pay-as-you-go customers to use their usual UK tariff allowances when holidaying in parts of Europe without being hit with hefty roaming costs.
This means the costs of calls, texts and data in the 31 European countries will remain the same as customers would pay in the UK. Calls and texts to EU numbers while in the 31 European countries will cost 4p per minute and 1p per text and there'll be no additional costs for receiving calls or texts while in the countries covered by the Tesco Mobile promotion.
News of this offer comes before the introduction of new EU rules that will result in lower call, text and data charges from 30 April, while EU roaming charges will be completely scrapped on 15 June next year.
Elsewhere, Three's 'Feel at Home' feature lets contract and pay-as-you-go customers use their normal allowance of minutes, texts and data abroad in 18 countries (including the US, Australia and New Zealand). For more info on how to secure cheap mobile and data roaming rates, check out our guide.
Which countries will be included in the Tesco Mobile promotion?
If you're a Tesco Mobile customer visiting Europe between Monday 23 May and Saturday 3 September, you won't be charged roaming rates, depending on where you go.
The full list of included countries is listed on the Tesco Mobile website. It includes France, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain (including the Canary Islands).

Will I have to do anything to activate the promotion?
No, if you're a Tesco Mobile customer you'll be able to take your phone to the 31 countries on the list and use it just as you would in the UK and there will be no extra roaming fees.
What if I exceed my monthly or pay-as-you-go minute, text or data allowance while I'm abroad?
Once you have used up your data, minutes and texts that are included in your normal UK tariff, you'll be charged: 25p/minute for calls to UK numbers, 10p/text to UK numbers, 10p/MB for data. Calls and texts from the UK will remain free to receive.
Roaming rates will be capped at £40, meaning your usage will be stopped once you reach this limit.
Should I be aware of any exclusions?
You can't make use of the promotion while on planes or ferries.
