TSB to shut 70 branches across the UK next year - here's a full list of sites set to close

The bank is one of many to announce high street branch closures in recent months, with Lloyds Banking Group shutting 41 Lloyds Bank branches and seven Halifax branches in October, and Santander announcing in March that it would close 111 branches.

TSB says the closures are down to a "significant decrease in branch use" and cites the Covid-19 pandemic as a reason for a further fall in branch transactions.

You can still bank online or use Post Office services if your branch is closing

If you choose to bank online or over the phone, TSB has a step-by-step guide on how to set up either telephone or online banking.

For those who want to bank in branch, TSB says it will be introducing a number of 'pop-up' sites in some areas where its high street branches are closing, including in Bishops Stortford, Camberley, Fort William, Greenwich, Harlesden, Louth, Redcar, Stranraer, Thurso, and Tunbridge Wells.

TSB customers can also deposit and withdraw money from any of the Post Office's 11,500 branches. The Post Office also enables customers to check their balance and pay in cheques. Use the Post Office's branch finder tool to locate your nearest one.

If you need branch access and your outlet is closing, consider switching

If you no longer want to stay with TSB (or you don't have a Post Office nearby), you might want to consider switching to a bank that does have a local branch nearby – although bear in mind there's no guarantee it too won't close in future. 

Banks with branches that currently have switching incentives include the following: 

• Santander, which is offering a £130 cash bonus, plus Santander newbies who apply via Money.co.uk also get a £20 Amazon voucher. 

• Nationwide, which is offering a free £100 cash bonus, plus 2% fixed interest on up to £1,500 and a 0% overdraft.
