If you're a 'MyWaitrose' loyalty scheme member you'll soon be able to get a 'free' coffee when you make a purchase in store as the supermarket has announced it will bring back the popular deal. The scheme relaunches on 7 November though you'll need to bring your own cup to avoid being charged £4 for a reusable one.

We explain how the scheme will work below, but if you're looking to save on your grocery shop, check out our supermarket coupons guide, plus how to boost the value of your supermarket loyalty points.

You'll be able to get a 'free' coffee when you make a purchase in store

From 7 November MyWaitrose cardholders can get a 'free':

  • Americano

  • Cappuccino

  • Latte

  • Or tea

You'll need to pay extra for other drinks, though you don't need to pay any more for milk alternatives, such as oat milk.

You don't need to spend a certain amount in order to qualify for the 'freebie'. You just need to swipe or scan your MyWaitrose card at the self-service drinks machine after check out. If you don't have a card and instead use your phone, you'll need to scan the barcode attached to your MyWaitrose account on the app.

The scheme will be available across ALL Waitrose stand alone stores but not at Shell Garages or Welcome Break branches that have a Waitrose inside. You'll be able to get one 'free' drink every day.

Under a previous iteration of the scheme, MyWaitrose shoppers could get a free hot drink without making a purchase, but in 2017 Waitrose changed the rules requiring shoppers to buy an item first. Then, during the pandemic, the supermarket paused the scheme entirely.

You need to bring your own cup or you'll be charged £4

To encourage sustainability, you'll need to bring your own cup. If you forget yours, you'll be able to purchase a Waitrose reusable cup for roughly £4. Paper coffee cups will not be provided.

You can sign up to MyWaitrose, for free, to benefit

Current MyWaitrose members do not need to sign up for the 'free' coffee scheme; the offer will automatically apply when you make a purchase in an eligible store.

If you're not currently a member and want to be part of the scheme, you need to sign up to MyWaitrose. You can do this for free via the Waitrose website

Non-MyWaitrose members cannot get the offer and neither can those who are only signed up to Caffé Nero's reward scheme.

The coffee will now be supplied in partnership with Caffe Nero

Waitrose has joined forces with Caffé Nero to relaunch the scheme, which means the coffee supplied will be made with beans from the Nero Roasting Company.

As part of the relaunch, between 7 and 30 November, MyWaitrose members will also get 20% off Caffè Nero's 'Coffee at Home' products in store and on Waitrose.com, which will be automatically applied when you scan your MyWaitrose card.
