Fewer than five fake polymer £5 and £10 notes are being reported to the Bank of England each month, MoneySavingExpert.com can reveal – a massive reduction on the 1,000+ counterfeit notes spotted each month when the notes were still paper.

App-based bank Monzo is investigating a problem which is delaying bank transfers, or causing them to fail.

Bank customers tricked into transferring cash to fraudsters now have more protection and are more likely to get a refund, after most major banks signed up to a new voluntary code.
