If you've got Sky TV, Sky can put your price up during your two-year contract without telling you what rises to expect before you sign up AND without letting you leave penalty-free. Thought this kind of thing was supposed to be banned? So did we. But our investigation can now reveal that Sky is exploiting a surprising gap in the new rules – leaving its TV customers in the lurch.

The annual cost of a standard colour TV licence will rise to £174.50 from 1 April 2025 – an increase of £5 on the current price of £169.50 a year – the Government has announced.

Now has increased the price of its monthly Boost (which enables ad-free viewing) and Sports memberships by £1 each a month. It means viewers who subscribe to both will pay an extra £2 a month. You're limited in what you can do to beat the price hike but you can cancel your subscription penalty-free if you're not happy.

If you're an Apple TV+ subscriber your next monthly bill will rise from £4.99 to £6.99 after the company said it is raising prices due to increasing licensing costs. But remember you can leave penalty free or, if you're an avid Apple user and have other subscriptions, such as Apple Music, it might be worth considering Apple One.

Sky launches Sky Stream service
