1,000s of items including tech, toys & homeware

Website: Argos*
Start date (online & in-store): Monday 22 December
End date: Thursday 15 January
Sale strength: Up to 50% off
Likely to boost? We haven't seen Argos increase the discount on its sale in previous years, so we wouldn't expect it to this year. However, Argos often matches its prices with other retailers, so you could see items discounted further if a competitor reduces its prices.

Here are some examples we spotted:

What does ‘up to 50% off’ mean?

  • Max discount we spotted: 50%

  • Min discount we spotted: 20%

  • Typical discount based on 10 random items: 29%

Argos deals on homewares, electricals, health & beauty

Eg, £198 Shark FlexStyle tool

For Black Friday, Argos has discounted hundreds of items online and in stores across many departments including homeware, electricals, health and beauty.‎ The sale started on Friday 31 October and lasts until Tuesday 2 December.

There sale started with just over 2,000 items, and by Tuesday 25 November it had grown to 10,000 items.

Argos has brought back its 'Price Guarantee' this year. If you purchase an item marked with the guarantee between Friday 31 October and Tuesday 2 December, Argos says it will not go lower in price before Thursday 25 December. If it does, it'll give you a voucher for the difference.

Here are some examples we spotted on Friday 28 November:

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
