Argos logoArgos eBay outlet*New & refurbished gadgets, electronics, toys and more

Some clearance stock can be cheaper in store but the range on Argos's eBay outlet* makes it worth a look.

Most products it sells are new, and where items are refurbished, they're clearly noted. It's also worth checking Argos's in-store clearance finder* which allows you to find bargains available in store.

Argos logoArgos: MoneySaving tips & tricks*Incl free Click & Collect, haggling & clearance

There are always ways to save money at Argos*, so even if there isn't a cracking discount code or sale out there that works for you, don't assume you can't cut your costs further.

Ways to save money at Argos include:

  • Free Check & Reserve. This allows you to save on delivery costs by reserving an item online and collecting it from an Argos store (find your nearest*). Of course, this will depend on your local store having your item in stock.
  • Try haggling. We polled 1,400 MoneySavers to find out in which shops they had most success haggling, and 17% said they'd managed to blag a discount at Argos - so it's probably worth a try if you're brave enough. Read our Haggle on the High Street guide for more haggling tips.
  • 'Free' Argos vouchers. Argos regularly does an offer where you can get a 'free' £5 voucher when you spend £50, or a £10 voucher when you spend £100, to use on your next Argos visit.
  • Check the online offers page. The Argos offers page* lists current deals from all sections of the site.
  • Check out similar retailers, eg, Amazon and Tesco Direct. If you're not committed to buying from Argos, check out our deals from other places such as AmazonJohn Lewis and Tesco Direct, where there may be a better offer.

  • Had a problem with Argos? There’s a free online tool you can use to complain – it helps draft, manage and if necessary escalate your complaint. It’s offered by a firm called Resolver, which we like so much we work with it to help people get complaints justice – you can use it to complain to Argos*.

Expired Deals

Argos logoArgos 3for2 on 3,000+ toys*In stores & online, incl Lego, Star Wars, Fisher-Price etc

This is a BIG sale MoneySavers wait for each year, as it's great for stocking up for Christmas. However, this year, we've spotted sudden price increases on a number of toys included in the sale - so don't assume Argos will be cheapest and always compare prices elsewhere first. For more analysis, see our Argos 3for2.. is it REALLY a good deal? blog.

What's the deal?

There's a huge 3for2 offer on 3,000+ toys at Argos* - so buy three toys and the cheapest's free - in stores and online until 11.59pm on Tue 3 Oct. It's an automatic discount on everything via the link above and clearly marked in stores. Delivery's £3.95.

Argos says lots of popular brands are included in the offer (eg, Lego, Fisher-Price etc), as well as some bikes. Video games and consoles are not included.

Here are just a few examples of toys that are included:

How does it work?

The cheapest item is free, so if you're just buying three items, you can only save as much as the lowest-priced item on your receipt is worth. For example, buy three toys at £50 each and pay £100 in total (saving £50).

On the other hand, buy two toys at £50 each and a cheaper toy at £5 and you still pay £100 but you only save a fiver. So to really make the most of the offer, see if you can perhaps team up with other parents to buy expensive presents (eg, bikes) in a shared transaction.

More info

Can't be combined with other offers (eg, two for £15, two for £30, three for £10).

Argos logoArgos 20% off £150+ indoor furniture spend*Via code. Excl nursery furniture

Go online to Argos* and you'll get 20% off almost all indoor furniture when you spend £150+ and enter the code FURN20 at the checkout, until 11.59pm on Tue 26 Sep. Delivery's £3.95 or you can collect from a store for free (find your nearest*).

You can also get the discount when you shop in store - simply mention the code at the till before you pay. The discount's valid on most indoor furniture but excludes nursery items.

Argos logoArgos £50 spend gets £5 off next spend*Online & in stores. Get a code/vch for next purchase

If you spend £50-£99 online at Argos* by Sun 3 Sep, you should receive a code in your confirmation email for £5 off your next purchase with no minimum spend. If you spend £100+ you'll get a code for £10 off your next purchase. Once received, you have until Tue 26 Sep to use the code.

Delivery's £3.95 (incl 'Fast Track' next day delivery), or you can reserve online and collect from a store for free. If using the reserve and collect option, you'll need to have picked up and paid for your item(s) by Sun 3 Sep, and on collection you'll be given a voucher to spend in store byTue 26 Sep.

Alternatively, you could simply walk into a store and purchase by Sun 3 Sep to receive an in-store voucher along with your receipt. Again, you'll have until Tue 26 Sep to spend your voucher and there's no minimum spend on this second purchase.

The only items excluded from both the qualifying spend and the purchase with the voucher are gift cards, e-Top ups and iTunes vouchers. See full T&Cs*.

MSE Sarah G says:

To get the most out of this offer, look at how much you're spending and consider whether it can be divided into multiple transactions. For example, buy two pieces of furniture for £100+ each and you'll come away with a £10 them separately and you'll get two £10 vouchers.

Argos logoArgos 'Big Red Event'*Sale online and in stores across all depts

If you go online to Argos*, you'll find varying discounts across all departments in its 'Big Red Event'. The discounts will also be available in stores (find your nearest*). Delivery's £3.95.

We've asked Argos when the sale ends, but it has yet to confirm - we'll update you here when we know more.

All items included in the sale will be clearly marked and the discount automatically applied at the checkout.

use the money mantras

Before spending, use Martin's Mantras. If you answer 'NO' to any, Don't buy!

Skint? ask:
  • Do I need it?
  • Can I afford it?
not skint? ask:
  • Will I use it?
  • Is it worth it?
Section 75

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.

If a link has a * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site.

You shouldn't notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
