Online & in-store

27 different options, including Cadbury, Nestlé and Thorntons

If you go online or in-store to Asda (find your nearest), you can get 'large' Easter eggs for £2.32. There are 27 eggs in the deal including Cadbury, Nestlé and Thorntons. The weight of these large eggs ranges from 151g to 202g.

Based on 10 of the Easter eggs at Asda, we found the typical cheapest price for the same size eggs at other retailers was £3.

If you don't need one 'large' Easter egg, you could get more chocolate for your buck by buying two smaller eggs at Lidl. For example, a 95g Cadbury Mini Egg Easter egg is 99p at Lidl – so it would be 190g for £1.98 – whereas you're getting a bit less choc for more money at Asda – 181g for £2.32.

At Asda. Or 2.3kg for £15.70 with Sainsbury's Nectar

Planning to cook up a storm this Easter? Then, we have an un-baa-lievable deal for you…

Some supermarkets have reduced the price of selected joints in the run up to Easter, including legs of lamb.

Asda is offering a 2.15kg leg of lamb for £15.05, which is 55% off its regular £34.12 price. Asda hasn't given us an end date for the deal, so go quick if it's something you want.

The next best price we’ve seen is £15.70 for a 2.3kg whole leg of lamb at Sainsbury’s, down from £33.40 until Tuesday 7 April – you’ll need to be a Nectar member (it’s free to join) to get this deal.

If we see other supermarkets reducing the price of their legs of lambs, we’ll update here.

You can get school uniform items (ages 3-18) from £3 at Asda, both online and in stores. If you're buying online, standard delivery's from £3.75. Click and collect from a store (find your nearest) is free. Stock for the cheapest items is starting to run very low, so there's no guarantee you'll be able to get what you're after.

What can you get?

Prices change depending on size. We noticed that a lot of sizes are sold out online. If George at Asda doesn't have the size you need available to order, try visiting a store instead. Alternatively, there are other similar items available online, but you may pay more for them.

Kids aged 16 or under can eat for £1 when dining in at any Asda café (find your nearest). There's no minimum spend or purchase required, and this deal is valid all day, seven days a week.

Asda told us there's a maximum of one meal per child, per day. The kids' menu includes dishes such as fish fingers, all-day breakfast and chicken nuggets which would normally cost £3.20. Kids can choose from either a hot or cold meal, and now all meals come with a piece of fruit.

Last bud not least, you can find similar bargains at independent stores across the country, though unfortunately, we can't compare prices for them all. Before buying at supermarkets, check local florists' prices to ensure you're getting the best deal.

How to jazz up a cheap bunch

With a bit of artistic flair, you can make a cheap-ish bouquet look expensive for next to nowt. Wrap it in fancy paper – no need to spend more than £1 on that. Maybe attach a handmade card, then listen as your mum reminisces about gifts you made her as a child (awww).

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
