Can you find a bargain?

Limited stock

Boots boosted its post-Christmas clearance sale from up to 50% off to up to 70% off selected gifts in-store (find your nearest*) on Monday 2 February.

From what we've seen it's mostly leftover gift sets from the Christmas shopping period from the likes of No7, Soap & Glory, Nivea and more.

Of course, what's on offer will differ from store-to-store, so you might not find these at your local, but when we checked a Boots store, we found the following:

  • Soap & Glory 'Fan-tastic Discoveries' three-piece set – was £10, now £3

  • Iconic London 'The Perfect Pout' set – was £20, now £6

  • Nivea 'Refining Moments of Joy' set – was £50, now £15

  • Garnier 'Hydration Collection' eight-piece set – was £74, now £22.20

  • Best of Bondi Sands eight-piece set – was £100, now £30

Boots also told us the below items are available in the sale, while stock lasts (we didn't see them at the store we checked):

  • Soap & Glory 'The Glam-Packed Showstopper' eight-piece full-size set – was £62, now £18.60

  • No7 'The Ultimate Skincare Collection' set – was £85, now £25.50

  • Nivea 'Luminous Skincare' set – was £84, now £25.50

  • PS Paul Smith Collection No.1 nine-room mist & fragrance – was £18, now £5.40

  • Radley beauty bag – was £35, now £10.50

  • FCUK Sport body duo body wash & spray – was £9, now £2.70

MSE Olivia says: "When I went into my local Boots store on Tuesday 3 February, I was pleasantly surprised by the range of sale items still on offer, especially after the boost to 70% off. Often only 'festive-themed' products remain, but there were loads of sets that could be gifted all year round. There were some brilliant brands too, such as Iconic London, Coco & Eve, Lazy Oaf, Arkive, and The Beauty Crop. If you're near a Boots, it's worth a look to see if you can pick up a clearance bargain."

Below are a couple of photos MSE Olivia took of the sale:

What about online?

Boots is advertising 'up to 80% off' at Boots online*, though when we checked there were only four products still in stock, with a maximum discount of 60% off.

Link Boots Advantage Card with a valid Student ID

Students can get 10% off selected items at Boots* online and in-store (find your nearest*).

To get the discount you'll need to:

  1. Sign up to the free Boots Advantage Card* via the app or online.

  2. Head into a Boots store and go to the till to link your Boots Advantage Card with a valid student ID. Unidays, Student Beans or TOTUM IDs, both digital and physical, are accepted. Your ID must have a valid end date.

To continue to use the offer, you'll need to repeat step two above to reactivate your discount on 1 September each year to be able to use the discount for another year, if you're eligible (it doesn't continuously roll over).

How good is this deal? We've previously seen Boots boost the discount to 20% off for a limited time (for example, we saw it from Friday 15 August until Monday 18 August). Boots occasionally offers discounts of 10%-20% for all, but these tend to come with a minimum spend or brand restrictions. So, if you're after specific products, the 10% off is a good ongoing offer.

Selected accounts only. Via Advantage card app for the month of your birthday

If you're a member of the Boots Advantage Card* scheme, you might get double points for your birthday month via the Boots app*. Make sure you have added your birthday details to your account and have given Boots marketing permission.

This doesn't automatically apply to every Advantage card member, instead it offers this to selected accounts as a "surprise". We're unsure what the criteria is, so don't bank on receiving this deal every year.

You'll need to add the promotion manually to your Advantage Card via the app before swiping it in store, or you won't get your double birthday points.

As there are 16 full-size products in this box, you could split it up for presents as we approach the festive season. I suspect this set will be popular with MoneySavers, so if you want this it's best to go quick.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.

If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links.
