As we predicted, Lakeland* is offering up to 50% off selected items in its Black Friday event, which began on Thu 21 Nov and will end at 11.59pm on Tue 3 Dec, online and in stores.
While we've not been able to check everything, we did notice some items were the same price or cheaper elsewhere online - so as always, do your homework and make sure you've compared prices before you spend.
A few examples we spotted at 11am on Fri 29 Nov:
- Crock-Pot 4.5-litre slow cooker* - £49.99 (was £69.99). Same price at Amazon
- Gtech AirRAM cordless vac* - £149.99 (was £199.99). Same price at Amazon
- Kenwood Chef stand mixer* - £399.99 (was £689.99). £20 CHEAPER at John Lewis
Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Last year, Lakeland* offered up to 50% off selected items as part of its Black Friday promotion. It began on Thu 22 Nov (the day before Black Friday, which fell on 23 Nov in 2018), and ended on Tue 27 Nov. We're predicting a similar deal this year.
Lakeland ran an up to 50% off promotion in Black Friday 2017 too. Here are some examples we spotted in previous years:
- Slow cooker (3.5l) - £16.49 (was £32.99). Next cheapest similar we found, £20.99 at Wayfair.
- Zyliss 15-piece knife block - £39.99 (was £119.99). Lakeland is the only stockist of this item.
- De'Longhi Magnifica-S coffee machine - £399.99 (was £649.99). Lakeland is the only stockist of this item.
What's included this year?Lakeland's Black Friday 2019 deals aren't confirmed yet, but the retailer's webpage confirms it will be participating. It says that offers will be available both online and in-store, and that big brands such as KitchenAid, Joseph Joseph and Morphy Richards will be included. It has also confirmed that all offers are included in its free Lakeland three-year guarantee.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100.
