If you click a link with an * to go through to a provider, we may get paid. This usually only happens if you get a product from it. This is what funds our team of journalists, and keeps us free to use. Yet there are two crucial things you need to know about this.
- This never impacts our editorial recommendations – if it's in, it's in there because we independently rate it best.
- You'll always get as good a deal (or better) than if you went direct.

Free £24 of wine with Dover-Calais return (from £25)
Travel up to 30 Mar. Vch gets 6 free btls on outward journey
ExpiredIf you’re looking to make a day trip across the Channel, you may want to get on board with this deal before it sails. Go via this P&O Ferries* link and enter the code WINE17 to get six free bottles of Banrock Station wine (cheapest we've seen it is £4 a bottle at Asda) when you book a Dover to Calais day return for a car and up to nine people by Wed 29 Mar.
The cheapest return day ticket we found is £25, so if you like the six bottles of wine (worth £24) and factor it in, for £1 more you're getting a trip across the Channel.
When you can bag the cheapest fares
Tickets are sold as separate outbound and inbound tickets – you'll need to book both to take advantage of this offer.
When we tested this deal on Mon 27 Feb, we found the cheapest return day trip ticket was £25 (£12.50 each way) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, £27 (£12.50 out, £14.50 back or vice versa) on Fridays and Sundays, and £29 (£14.50 each way) on Saturdays and Wednesdays – but it can be hit and miss and a bit of trial and error as to whether the ferry you want has the cheapest fare, and these could go quick, so you'll need to be flexible.
The cheapest fares were mostly available before 9.30am outbound and after 3pm inbound.
You have to book by 11.59pm on Wed 29 Mar for travel until Thu 30 Mar and bookings must be made more than 36 hours prior to departure.
How to redeem the free wine
Providing you entered the code when booking, you'll be given a voucher at port check-in for the free wine. Show it to the ferry shop staff on the outward journey only to get six bottles of Banrock Station red or white wine.
You can't mix and match the red or white wine and if Banrock Station is unavailable, P&O Ferries says it will offer a substitute. Please be Drinkaware.
