Drivers have been given a boost as the big four supermarkets are all cutting petrol prices.

From tomorrow:

  • Asda will cut up to 3p/litre off petrol and up to 2p on diesel nationwide.

  • Tesco is reducing prices of both petrol and diesel by up to 3p/litre at all forecourts.

  • Sainsbury's will reduce petrol prices by 4p/litre and diesel by 3p/litre throughout the UK.

  • Drivers at Morrisons will see reduction of up to 2p/litre for both petrol and diesel across all forecourts.

The reductions do not necessarily mean any of the supermarkets will be the cheapest fuel provider. The website Petrolprices.com lists the cheapest in your area (see our Cheap Petrol & Diesel guide to drive down costs).

On Monday the average price of petrol in the UK was 139.91p and 146.38p for diesel, according to the site.

Today's announcements come after the wholesale price of a litre of fuel fell by about 4p over the last month.
