Motorists could benefit from lower fuel costs as Asda and Tesco are both cutting petrol and diesel prices on all forecourts from tomorrow.

The supermarkets will cut unleaded petrol prices by up to 2p a litre, and diesel prices by 1p a litre from tomorrow (see our Cheap Petrol and Diesel guide to cut costs).

Fuel prices vary across Tesco forecourts, while Asda customers won't pay more than 131.7p per litre for petrol, and no more than 137.7p per litre for diesel.

We've asked Morrisons and Sainsbury's if they'll respond with similar cuts, but at present neither of these have announced any similar plans. We'll update this news story if we hear anything more.

However tomorrow's price cuts doesn't mean Asda and Tesco forecourts will be the cheapest for petrol and diesel. To find the lowest prices in your area, use the website Petrolprices.com.

On Wednesday the average price of unleaded was 138.16p a litre, while diesel cost 142.70p a litre, according to the site.
