Capital One credit card customers hit by IT issues
Credit card provider Capital One has apologised for ongoing "technical issues", as customers say they are unable to log into their accounts or make payments.
Update 20 August 3.30pm: Capital One says its "services are now back online".
Customers on social media have been reporting problems logging into their accounts via the Capital One website or app since yesterday morning, as well as issues getting through to the company on the phone. Others have said that their credit cards have been declined when trying to make purchases.
Capital One first confirmed that it was experiencing "technical difficulties" on Twitter yesterday morning, and has told customers they'll be resolved "as soon as possible".
What are customers saying?
Customers have expressed their frustration with the ongoing problems on Twitter, with some fearing they'll face late payment fees as the technical issues have stopped them paying their credit card bill on time:
What does Capital One say?
Capital One first told customers on Twitter that it was experiencing issues at 11.43am yesterday, although some customers reported having issues before this.
This morning, it said it had managed to fix the issues, only to tweet again two hours later that the problems had returned. It said: "After a brief period back up and running, we're sorry to say that we're experiencing technical issues again. Please bear with us while we work to resolve this as quickly as possible."
We've asked Capital One when the problems are expected to be fixed, and whether late payment fees will be waived for customers who were unable to log on to pay their bills.
