Three to scrap Wuntu rewards app
Mobile network Three has announced it is to close its Wuntu rewards app next month – and you'll need to redeem any offers you've got from it before then to avoid losing out.
Wuntu offers Three customers freebies, offers and prize draws – in the past, perks have included free coffee and chocolate, as well as discounts on meals out and cocktails.
But the app will be shut down on Monday 16 December, with all offers expiring at 11.55pm on Sunday 15 December – even if you've already claimed the offer and are just waiting to redeem it.
Three says Wuntu will be replaced with a new scheme, though it's not yet released details.
How does the Wuntu app work?
Wuntu says it typically offers users around 40 deals per week, with new ones available every Wednesday.
These are a mix of freebies (some with no strings attached, but some which you can only redeem if you spend money on something else), discounts and prize draws.
The best freebies often have limited availability – either there'll be a set number up for grabs, or they'll only be available on the app for a set period.
Some offers can last for a few weeks though, and once you've saved an offer you'll be given an expiry date to redeem it by, which could be later – so it's worth checking your Wuntu wallet for any deals you want to redeem before the app shuts down.
Examples of perks Three customers have been able to get through the app include a free Cineworld ticket, free £5 Amazon gift card and a Bella Italia meal for £3.
'I'll miss Wuntu – I went to Ibiza for free through the app'
The Wuntu app was hugely popular among MoneySavers when it first launched back in 2017 – when MSE Kelvin first wrote about it – though some customers have said they've noticed a dip in the quality of the offers in recent months.
But many Wuntu users on Twitter were sad to see the app go:
What does Three say?
A Three spokesperson said: "Following a review of our customer loyalty programme, we will be closing the Wuntu app on 16 December. Loyalty is hugely important to us and our customers, and we will announce a new scheme to reward our customers in the New Year."
