Morrisons introduces new discounts for loyalty card holders - here's what you need to know

Morrisons has launched a new feature for its loyalty card scheme which gives shoppers offers and discounts on certain items in-store and online. You don't need to do anything to activate the deals but you will need to be a 'My Morrisons' member to get them.
The supermarket giant told MoneySavingExpert.com that the same discounts and offers are available to all My Morrisons card holders, and will be automatically applied at the checkout when you swipe your card in store (either via the app or using your old Morrisons More card), or when you input your details online.
Currently, Morrisons is offering a 'two for £6' deal on tubs of confectionary in-store and online and said that its offers will "evolve with customer feedback" to include deals on the items shoppers say matter the most.

You can sign up to My Morrisons online or via the app
'Morrisons More' rebranded to 'My Morrisons' last year. If you're new to the scheme, you can sign up for free online or using the My Morrisons app, which you can download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
As well as generalised offers, you also get rewards tailored to your spending. In addition, you can take advantage of a "buy four, get the fifth free' deal on hot drinks from Morrisons' cafes.
Plus, on 7 November, Morrisons will relaunch its 'Christmas Collector' scheme. This sits alongside its current existing offers and gives eligible shoppers money-off vouchers if they spend at Morrisons in-store or online in the five weeks leading up to Christmas. Shoppers then have from 12 December 2022 until 3 January 2023 to spend any vouchers received under the scheme.
How My Morrisons compares with other big supermarkets' loyalty schemes
Morrisons is not the only supermarket hoping to attract loyal shoppers by offering a rewards scheme. While it's tricky to compare schemes directly as they all work differently, here's what some of the other big names offer:
-
Asda has recently introduced a new loyalty scheme which allows you to earn 'cash' rewards known as 'Asda Pounds' either by buying certain products, completing 'missions', or spending on the Asda credit card. Any Asda Pounds you earn go into a 'cashpot' inside the app, which you can then redeem for vouchers.
-
Sainsbury's allows shoppers to earn Nectar points at a rate of one point per £1 spent, with each point worth 0.5p. Users can also earn bonus points on some items. It also offers personalised discounts via its 'SmartShop' feature.
-
Tesco's Clubcard also gives you one point per £1 spent, though here each point is worth 1p (and can be boosted). Having a Clubcard also lets you access lower prices on some items in store and online.
