Ryanair tried to seat a three-year-old away from her horrified parents on a flight from Portugal to Liverpool. The budget airline is one of at least five that operates a 'family tax', where the only way to guarantee parents and their children are seated together is to pay for allocated seating.

MoneySavingExpert.com is demanding that budget airlines scrap a 'family tax' that pushes worried parents to fork out an extra £15 each per flight just to guarantee they can sit next to their children.

Aer Lingus, Jet2 and Wizz Air face legal action after the UK's aviation regulator found the latter two airlines are wrongly rejecting flight delay compensation claims, while Aer Lingus is failing to provide passengers with information on their rights.

This follows the Chancellor's announcement in this week's Autumn Statement that it would scrap Air Passenger Duty for under-12s from 1 May.
