Saucepans, spreadsheets & suitable laptops – this week's MSE Forum highlights
We're one-sixth of the way through the year, and some Forumites' thoughts are already turning to Christmas. If you're not quite ready for that and want to stay rooted in spring, then we've got pancake inspiration for you too in this week's selection from the MSE Forum.

A few of this week's top threads
These are some of the Forum discussions that caught our eye this week:
-
Spreadsheet, online tool or paper and pen – how do you track your finances?
-
Start planning for Christmas with our seasonal MoneySaving chatter thread
-
How much should I reduce cooking time when using an air fryer?
Money Moral Dilemma
Every week, the Money Tips email features a real-life Money Moral Dilemma (MMD for short). They're intended to encourage debate and, as such, they're usually among the most discussed threads each week.
Should I ask my friend to pay customs duty on the gift they sent from abroad?
I have recently had a baby and a friend I met while living abroad has sent me a gift. But as it's come from overseas, I have to pay £70 customs duty on it, which I can't really afford. I don't want to appear ungrateful, but should I ask my friend whether they'll pay it or just suck it up and pay it myself?
See what our MSE Forumites had to say and add your own thoughts on the Money Moral Dilemma discussion thread. Do please stick to the MSE Forum rules: keep it kind and keep it clean. Remember, there's a real person behind every dilemma.
Photo of the week
On the Old style MoneySaving board, the What are you making for dinner? thread has more than 1,500 pages of culinary inspiration. This week Frith shared a snap of their kedgeree:

Please note: We love seeing your photos in the MSE Forum, but if you're uploading one, make sure it doesn't include any personally-identifiable information such as your face or address.
Challenge corner
It's the start of a new month, which means a new crop of monthly MoneySaving challenges on the Forum. How many days in March can you manage without any non-essential spending? It's a great way to focus the mind and boost your savings or drive down any debt. Caeraugirl described how they got on in February: "Even though I didn't get to target, I'm still pleased to have reached 15 after a very slow start - definitely progress as in the past I would have binned the effort after a few wobbly days and realisation that I wouldn't achieve the target."
Latest comping wins
This week Esmeralda72 is celebrating their first ever competition win: a pair of tickets to see Snow Patrol at Co-Op Live in Manchester.
Congratulations also to jal_dev who has a £250 Tesco voucher on the way: "I have definitely put in the hours though, have entered hundreds and hundreds of comps over the years and this is my biggest win by far!"
Our Competitions time board is the place to find out whether luck is on your side this week.
Your two cents
Shrove Tuesday is on the way, and we'd like to hear about your pancake plans. Do you eat them as a starter, main course or dessert? What are your tips for using up leftovers as pancake fillings? What about special diets and fussy eaters? All these questions and more have been posed and answered over the years in our MoneySaving community.
