Get its free loyalty card and use your own cup to get it

You can get a free regular-sized hot drink in store every day from a takeaway machine with a Booths card, as long as you bring your own reusable cup and show your loyalty card. If you don't have a cup you'll get it half price. Choose from tea, hot chocolate, latte, Americano, white Americano and cappuccino.

You can only get this offer with a permanent Booths card - if you haven't got one already, you'll need to pick up a temporary card in store and register it to receive your permanent card. Booths says you'll receive this within two weeks if you register over the phone or online, but if you register via post it could take up to 30 days.

It's worth noting you can't get your free drink in the cafe unless you're buying food as well. It's one regular hot drink per Booths cardholder per day.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100.
