If you click a link with an * to go through to a provider, we may get paid. This usually only happens if you get a product from it. This is what funds our team of journalists, and keeps us free to use. Yet there are two crucial things you need to know about this.
- This never impacts our editorial recommendations – if it's in, it's in there because we independently rate it best.
- You'll always get as good a deal (or better) than if you went direct.

Safety notice: Hotpoint fridge freezer
Check model/serial number and register for updates
ExpiredHotpoint has issued a safety notice after one of its fridge freezers was linked to the Grenfell Tower fire.
While Hotpoint has not yet ordered a recall, it is getting the details of people who have a certan model while it carries out a safety investigation.
Hotpoint says you should check your fridge freezer for either of the following model numbers:
- FF175BP (White)
- FF175BG (Graphite)
The affected fridge freezers were manufactured between March 2006 and July 2009.
How do I find the model/serial number?
Hotpoint says the model and serial number are usually located on a sticker inside the fridge, behind the salad container. Look for a model data label as illustrated below.
My fridge is affected, what should I do?
If you're the owner of one of these, complete this online form to register for further updates.
For advice, you can call Hotpoint customer services on 0800 316 3826 (Mon-Fri 8am-6.30pm, Sat 8.30am-5.30pm, Sun 9.30am-3.30pm). Alternatively, you can use its live chat online.
What does Hotpoint say?
Whirlpool, which owns Hotpoint, said: "Words cannot express our sorrow at this terrible tragedy. We offer our most profound condolences to the victims, those who have lost loved-ones, homes, and possessions, and to their friends and families. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved, including the emergency services who risked their lives to extinguish the blaze and rescue those in the building.
“We have just been informed that the fire may have originated in a Hotpoint fridge freezer (model number FF175BP). We are working with the authorities to obtain access to the appliance so that we can assist with the ongoing investigations. Under these circumstances, we are unable to speculate on further details at this time.
"We are addressing this as a matter of utmost urgency and assisting the authorities in any way we can. We will provide additional updates as our investigations progress."

Whirlpool/Hotpoint extra 35% off appliances
Blagged code for clearance. Eg, £300 washing machine £195
ExpiredEnter the MSE Blagged code 35OFF online at the Hotpoint factory outlet* by Sun 31 Jan to get 35% off all items in its clearance store.
The store used to only sell Indesit and Hotpoint large appliances, such as cookers, washing machines and fridges. But it now sells Whirlpool products too, as well as smaller appliances, including kettles, microwaves and irons. While most of the appliances are discontinued at Hotpoint, some of them are still on sale elsewhere for substantially more.
Delivery's free and there's a free removal and disposal service for large appliances (this isn't available for small appliances). There's a charge if you want an engineer to connect a new large appliance, which ranges from £8.40 to £60.
These are end of line models and stock's very limited - once it's gone it's gone, so go quick if you're after a particular item.
As it's a clearance site, not all the appliances can be found elsewhere, but we’ve found a few items for similar prices at other online retailers, so the code is what makes this deal hot. Of course, do check prices and compare for yourself before you buy.
Here are some of the better discounts we found using the code on Tue 19 Jan:
- Hotpoint microwave (MWH2322X) - £65.90 (£101.39 before code, next cheapest we found is £99 at AO.com).
