Fashion and home retailer Littlewoods offered a range of discounts on electrical items for Black Friday last year, and we predict it'll do the same for Black Friday 2019 (Fri 29 Nov).
Yet despite being owned by the same company as Very* (with the same website layout and similar branding), some products were up to £100 more expensive at Littlewoods – so always check before you buy.
A few examples we spotted on Black Friday 2018 (last year's prices):
- PS4 Fifa 19 bundle - £289.99 at Littlewoods. Cheaper at Very, £219.99.
- Sonos Beam soundbar - £449 at Littlewoods. Cheaper at Very, £349.
- Lay-Z Spa Vegas hot tub - £399.99 at Littlewoods. Cheaper at Very, £349.99.
This just shows, although some retailers might be jumping on the bandwagon of Black Friday, deals are not always all they seem.
Important: Don't allow yourself to get caught up in the Black Friday hype, and only ever buy what you need and can afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you’ve found the best deal – don't just take a retailer's word for it.

Littlewoods has started its Black Friday sale, however, despite being owned by the same company as Very (with the same website layout and similar branding), some of the deals on Littlewoods are £100+ more expensive.
The products are exactly the same with the same pictures, yet the price is massively different. Here are a few examples:
- Playstation 4 Fifa 19 bundle - £289.99 at Littlewoods. Cheaper at Very, £219.99.
- Sonos Beam Soundbar - £449 at Littlewoods. Cheaper at Very, £349.
- Lay-Z Spa Vegas hot tub - £399.99 at Littlewoods. Cheaper at Very, £349.99.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100.
